Product Engineering Internship – Machine Learning Analyst

About the role

Join NXP's Product Engineering team in Nijmegen to develop and evaluate anomaly detection methods for machine‑learning models used in automotive semiconductor products. This internship offers hands‑on experience with large‑scale data, cross‑functional collaboration, and the opportunity to produce a thesis‑level deliverable.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and assess an anomaly detection approach to ensure reliability of incoming data and model predictions.
• Analyze large datasets to identify out‑of‑distribution behavior, data shifts, and inconsistencies.
• Design scoring mechanisms and decision thresholds balancing detection sensitivity with review capacity.
• Validate solutions using historical data and simulated anomalous scenarios.
• Document methodology, validation results, and recommended thresholds for internship and thesis deliverables.

Required profile

• Master’s student in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics or a related quantitative field.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with data analysis or ML workflows.
• Solid foundation in statistics, anomaly detection, out‑of‑distribution detection or distribution‑shift analysis.
• Interest in semiconductor test data and deploying trustworthy ML solutions in an industrial setting.
