Assistant Professor – Radar Remote Sensing

About the role

The Microwave Sensing, Signals and Systems (MS3) group at TU Delft seeks an Assistant Professor to lead pioneering research in radar remote sensing. You will develop an independent research line focused on active phased‑array radar systems for a range of societal challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a long‑term scientific vision for radar remote sensing.
• Develop and lead projects on phased‑array radar signal processing, target and clutter estimation, and polarimetric/Doppler techniques.
• Utilise TU Delft’s radar facilities (PARSAX, MESEWI, PHARA) to validate concepts and advance experimental platforms.
• Supervise PhD candidates, mentor MSc students, and contribute to a collaborative research environment.
• Establish industry and public‑sector partnerships, write research proposals, and secure external funding.
• Teach Bachelor’s and Master’s courses in radar systems and remote sensing, supervise student projects, and help shape curricula.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong scientific foundation with a passion for innovation and real‑world applications.
• Ability to combine theory, experimentation, and application development.

Required skills

• Expertise in phased‑array radar technology.
• Advanced signal‑processing methods for radar applications.
• Knowledge of target and clutter parameter estimation.
• Experience with polarimetric and Doppler radar information.
