DevOps Engineer – Infrastructure

About the role

TU Delft is looking for a DevOps Engineer who is passionate about building and managing infrastructure platforms. You will join a team that operates its own data centres and campus network, transforming manual operations into fully automated, code‑driven processes.

Key responsibilities

• Automate deployment, configuration and registration of data‑centre, network and platform services using Ansible, Terraform, NetBox, GitLab CI and Python.
• Develop and maintain an internal self‑service platform that enables other ICT teams to consume standardized infrastructure services.
• Establish NetBox as the authoritative source of truth for network and infrastructure configurations.
• Build an event‑driven orchestration layer that turns portal requests into provisioned, monitored services.
• Design isolated research environments that meet Dutch Knowledge Security requirements.
• Explore and prototype alternative virtualization solutions such as Proxmox.

Required profile

• Strong enthusiasm for infrastructure automation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code principles.
• Experience working in complex, research‑oriented IT environments.
• Ability to write clean, reviewable code and collaborate through Git‑based workflows.
