Data Engineering Associate

About the role

Metyis AG is seeking a Data Engineering Associate to join its Data & Analytics team in Amsterdam. You will work on end‑to‑end data solutions that support digital marketing, e‑commerce and business intelligence initiatives for a diverse set of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer complete technical solutions to address business challenges in digital marketing, e‑commerce, BI and self‑service analytics.
• Gather functional and non‑functional requirements while considering technical environments, business constraints and enterprise architecture.
• Design and build operational data platforms, including ETL/ELT pipelines, data anonymisation flows, data lakes, near‑real‑time streaming hubs, web services and ML model training/scoring.
• Collaborate with partners, strategy consultants and data scientists in a flat, agile organisation.
• Deliver technical training and share data‑engineering knowledge across the team.
• Guide and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of experience in data analytics and engineering.
• Strong understanding of data‑warehousing concepts (ODS, data marts, data lakes, data vault, 3NF).
• Advanced SQL, data‑transformation and profiling expertise.
• Proven experience building production‑scale ETL/ELT pipelines.
• 1‑2 years hands‑on experience with Azure services (Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Functions, App Logic) and streaming.
• Experience with Airflow and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Python (PySpark) and Bash scripting.
• Knowledge of Git and CI/CD practices.
