Operations Controller, EMEA

About the role

Flexport is building modern finance operations for a fast‑growing multinational environment. As an Operations Controller for EMEA, you will lead accounting, control, and finance automation across more than 15 countries, ensuring accurate reporting and VAT compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full monthly close process, guaranteeing timeliness, completeness and accuracy across a growing multi‑entity footprint.
• Ensure accuracy of local revenue, COGS and transfer‑pricing calculations based on approved methodology.
• Control cost, balance‑sheet and liquidity through OPEX/T&E challenges, financial anomaly investigations and cash‑flow reviews.
• Build and deliver an automation roadmap for the accounting function, removing manual, repeatable work.
• Enforce correct VAT recording end‑to‑end and implement e‑invoicing readiness for local transaction control mandates.
• Partner with business units to embed new commercial models into accounting workflows and support FP&A reporting.
• Provide leadership by supervising and developing the accounting team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and operational finance experience in a high‑growth, multinational company.
• Strong background in GAAP, financial reporting and ERP systems.
• Proven experience applying VAT rules and VAT accounting across Europe.
• Top‑level proficiency in deploying and overseeing automated finance tools and modern financial data stacks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization and planning abilities with keen attention to detail.
