Postdoc Photoacoustic Nanoscale Imaging

About the role

The postdoctoral researcher will advance photoacoustic imaging technology that uses ultrafast‑laser‑induced ultrasound to visualise 3‑D nanostructures in opaque materials. The role combines experimental development, system optimisation, and application studies in fields such as biological imaging and semiconductor metrology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and advance photoacoustic imaging technology based on ultrafast‑laser‑induced ultrasound.
• Lead the implementation and optimisation of the modulated asynchronous optical sampling system for 3‑D nanostructure measurements.
• Collaborate with PhD candidates and undergraduate students to conduct experiments and analyse data.
• Demonstrate novel applications in biological imaging and semiconductor metrology.
• Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in physics, optics, photonics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Interest or experience in semiconductor metrology is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with ultrafast lasers.
• Knowledge of electronic synchronization systems.
• Proficiency in photoacoustic imaging techniques.
• Ability to work with optical detection systems.
• Familiarity with modulated asynchronous optical sampling.
