Software Engineer II – Backend (Laravel/PHP)

About the role

You will join a product‑focused team building a Third‑Party Risk Management SaaS platform. As a hands‑on backend engineer you will own features from design through deployment, ensuring performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend features and RESTful APIs using Laravel within a TALL stack.
• Own stories end‑to‑end, including implementation, monitoring, and iteration.
• Participate in architectural discussions and influence technical decisions.
• Review code, improve test coverage, and strengthen CI/CD standards.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and pairing.
• Leverage AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate development while validating outputs.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience in an agile environment.
• Strong PHP and Laravel expertise, preferably with the TALL stack.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL or MariaDB) and query optimisation.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating systems.
• Practical knowledge of AWS or similar cloud platforms and containerisation (Docker).
• Clear communication skills and ability to document designs.
