AI & Automation Internship (non‑thesis)

About the role

At Philips, within the Information Security Process and Tooling team, you will explore practical uses of AI and automation to make security assessments faster, more consistent and easier to interpret.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize AI‑automation opportunities within Philips’ security control framework.
• Map assessment workflows, stakeholder needs and data sources to define practical constraints.
• Prepare, structure and analyse real‑world security and control data.
• Develop proof‑of‑concept AI‑assisted or automated assessment workflows and support their progression toward a pilot.
• Define evaluation measures covering quality, reliability, false positives/negatives, explainability and user trust.
• Apply privacy, information‑security and traceability requirements throughout the work.
• Test prototypes with stakeholders, incorporate feedback and communicate findings through visualisations and decision‑ready recommendations.
• Document the approach, limitations and recommended next steps for future implementation.

Required profile

• Pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field.
• Experience with data analysis and rapid prototyping through coursework, projects or previous work.
• Comfortable working with incomplete or imperfect real‑world data.
• Able to explain technical findings clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Curious, proactive and interested in learning about information security.

What we offer

• Monthly allowance of €500‑€700 gross (pro‑rated for part‑time).
• Housing compensation up to €300 net (or €255 net for other Philips locations) when relocating.
• Travel compensation up to €192 net depending on location.
• Paid holidays during the internship term.
