Backend Software Engineer III

About the role

Join a cross‑functional squad building scalable backend services for a search and analytics platform used by researchers and international organisations. You will design, develop, test and operate APIs that deliver reliable, secure and observable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain Java‑based backend services and APIs.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews and production incident response.
• Drive proactive maintenance, technical debt reduction and performance optimisation.
• Document technical designs, decisions and operational procedures.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience building production‑grade backend systems.
• Strong OOP/OOD knowledge and ability to write clean, testable code.
• Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with product, architecture and SRE teams.

Required skills

• Java and Spring Framework.
• API design and service development principles.
• Data structures, algorithms, concurrency and performance optimisation.
• SQL, relational databases and query optimisation.
• Automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and code review processes.
