Category Manager – Mechatronic Parts

About the role

As the Procurement Category Manager – Mechatronic Parts, you will be the strategic link between Innovation & Development, Assembly, and global suppliers. You will own the long‑term capacity and technical reliability of precision metals, electromechanical assemblies, and complex components, ensuring production lines run without single‑source bottlenecks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for mechatronics, precision metals, and electromechanical assemblies, securing reliable supplier capacity for rapid growth.
• Partner with Mechanical and Electromechanical Engineers during early design phases, providing Design‑for‑Manufacturing guidance, lead‑time insights, and cost structures.
• Build deep, trust‑based relationships with key global and European suppliers, implementing SLAs to monitor OTIF and quality metrics.
• Identify material shortages and single‑source risks early, taking proactive actions to protect production continuity.
• Lead Make‑vs‑Buy analyses for complex sub‑assemblies, draft Statements of Work, and manage knowledge‑transfer roadmaps with robust IP protection.
• Negotiate framework contracts, pricing, and tooling agreements to lower Total Cost of Ownership, and maintain clean BOM configurations in SAP or Odoo.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
• 5+ years of strategic procurement or category management experience in high‑tech manufacturing.
• Strong technical background in CNC machining, casting, injection molding, and tolerance management.
• Proven track record managing RFQ processes and negotiating long‑term framework contracts.
• Hands‑on experience with modern ERP platforms such as SAP or Odoo.
• Professional fluency in English; Dutch or German is a strong asset.
