Engineering Manager, Excel Agents

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Engineering Manager to join our Excel Agents Team in the Amsterdam office. Working in a bootstrapped and profitable scale‑up, you will lead a team that builds the intelligence layer automating the assurance lifecycle and bringing AI directly into auditors' workflows worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team through outcome‑based goals, fostering autonomy and accountability.
• Raise the engineering bar by mentoring engineers, expanding problem scope, and addressing performance issues.
• Own the technical direction and architecture of the Excel Agent platform, ensuring reliability, observability, security, and effectiveness in real customer workflows.
• Guide the design and scaling of agentic systems that combine LLMs, document intelligence, business workflows, and human oversight.
• Partner with Product, Design, and other Engineering teams to shape the roadmap and translate customer needs into impactful AI experiences.
• Drive adoption of AI‑assisted engineering practices across the broader organization.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience leading and managing engineering teams, with hands‑on mentorship and performance management.
• Minimum 5 years as a software engineer building scalable, reliable, high‑quality systems.
• Proven track record of leading teams that develop AI‑powered products, especially with LLMs or agentic workflows.
• Strong product aptitude and ability to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
• Strategic thinker who can shape product and technical direction, not just execute.
• Entrepreneurial mindset thriving in a fast‑moving scale‑up environment.
