About the role
We are looking for a Freelance Operations Physics Engineer to join our high‑tech operations team in Eindhoven. The role supports the introduction, sustainability and continuous improvement of an advanced microscopy module within a high‑resolution scientific microscopy platform. You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, service, logistics and supply‑chain partners to ensure timely delivery of high‑quality systems.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical engineering support to the factory for on‑time shipment of high‑quality microscopy systems.
- Assist factory and field service engineers during first builds, installations and upgrades of new modules.
- Analyse and resolve complex technical problems to meet system specifications and performance requirements.
- Support and potentially lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and cross‑functional operational improvement projects.
- Create, maintain and continuously improve work instructions and factory process flows.
- Perform hands‑on assembly, testing, troubleshooting and training of personnel when required.
- Work closely with suppliers to resolve technical and quality issues and introduce new parts.
- Submit and implement engineering changes to improve quality, manufacturability and cost.
Required profile
- Proven engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong background in physics or applied engineering; experience with advanced imaging, detection or microscopy technologies is a strong advantage.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑moving, high‑tech manufacturing setting.
- Experience supporting or leading technical projects, including NPI.
- Capability to produce clear technical documentation, work instructions and engineering reports.
- Comfort with complex, modular systems and cleanroom environments.
- Knowledge of statistical engineering or data‑driven problem solving is a plus.
- Degree in Physics, Engineering or related field (PhD preferred; Bachelor’s or Master’s with relevant experience considered).
