Generative AI Engineer Internship

About the role

We’re seeking an intern with hands‑on expertise in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Generative AI to join our team. In this role you will design and build innovative, ethically responsible Generative AI solutions that address real‑world problems while balancing technical feasibility, user needs and business impact. The work directly supports patient outcomes and Philips’ growth in the healthcare sector.

Key responsibilities

• Design, train and evaluate NLP and LLM‑based solutions such as retrieval‑augmented generation, chatbots, information retrieval, text generation, summarisation and named‑entity recognition.
• Clean, preprocess and curate data for evaluation, fine‑tuning and training.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to understand business needs, formulate problems and deliver data‑driven insights.
• Stay up‑to‑date with the latest generative AI research and integrate new techniques into development.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least one year of hands‑on experience developing NLP or ML/DL solutions in an academic or professional setting.
• Proficient in Python and the data ecosystem (Pandas, NumPy, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and familiar with modern GenAI frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel and OpenAI APIs.
• Strong understanding of classic NLP and experience with LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, data synthesis, automatic evaluation and fine‑tuning.

What we offer

• Monthly full‑time allowance of €500‑€700 gross (pro‑rated for part‑time).
• Housing compensation of €300 net (Amsterdam area) or €255 net (other Philips locations) with proof of lease.
