Health, Safety & Environment Officer

About the role

As the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer for the Netherlands and Belgium, you will ensure construction projects, stations and offices are safe, compliant and continuously improving. You will also lead the HSE Culture & Training pillar across all Fastned markets, making safety visible and engaging company‑wide.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary HSE contact for project managers, field technicians, contractors and suppliers in NL & BE.
• Deliver toolbox talks, on‑site HSE support and ensure compliance with Dutch and Belgian legislation.
• Design and run safety campaigns, awareness calendars and internal communications for all Fastned markets.
• Manage incident reporting, root‑cause analysis and follow‑up corrective actions.
• Maintain HSE documentation, risk assessments, method statements and training records.
• Use HSE data and dashboards to prioritise actions and support decision‑making.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably in construction or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Dutch and/or Belgian HSE legislation (working at height, road safety, contractor safety, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites, travel frequently and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel between locations in NL and BE.

Required skills

• Incident investigation and analysis with follow‑through on corrective actions.
• Proficiency in Excel for data monitoring and reporting.
• Experience using Databricks or similar data‑analysis platforms.
