About the role
This unpaid internship is based in The Hague and supports the Archives, Information and Records Management division of the International Court of Justice. Working under the Head of Archives, the intern will help review, digitise and organise both physical and digital archival records.
Key responsibilities
- Review archival files to identify contents, dates, creators, subjects and relationships.
- Process physical records, including digitisation of historic and fragile documents.
- Assist in preparing and improving archival inventories, finding aids and file descriptions.
- Enter, review and standardise metadata in SharePoint libraries or other records‑management systems.
- Apply quality‑control checks to digital records, detecting duplicates, incomplete or mis‑classified items.
Required profile
- Enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s programme, or in a Master’s/Ph.D. programme, or already hold a degree.
- Academic background in archives, records management, information management, library science, law, international relations, history or a related field.
- English and French language proficiency: UN Level III in one language and UN Level II in the other.
Required skills
- Good knowledge of standard office software applications.
- Familiarity with SharePoint.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
