Marine Underwriter

About the role

AIG is seeking a Marine Underwriter to join its underwriting team in the Netherlands. This entry‑level position offers the chance to develop technical underwriting skills while working closely with brokers and internal partners to deliver tailored marine insurance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and price new and renewal marine risks, negotiating terms and conditions with brokers and clients.
• Expand the broker network by attending events, building relationships, and identifying cross‑selling opportunities.
• Collaborate with AIG Distribution, territory managers, and underwriters from other lines to target desirable accounts.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience in insurance, preferably with a focus on marine lines.
• Strong analytical ability, including the capacity to review financial statements.
• Excellent communication, networking and relationship‑building skills.
• Motivated, proactive, accountable and oriented toward personal and professional development.

Required skills

• Ability to analyse financial statements.
