Mid-Level Financial Client Accountant, Corporate

About the role

Hawksford is hiring a Mid-Level Financial Client Accountant for its corporate practice in Amsterdam. You will own the accounting needs of an assigned portfolio of client entities across the full accounting cycle, from bookkeeping and reconciliations through to annual accounts, VAT returns, audit support and direct work with clients and professional advisers.

Key responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of client entities and prepare accurate accounting records
• Prepare journal entries and complete month-end and year-end accounting
• Produce income statements, balance sheets, trial balances and supporting schedules
• Carry out bank, balance-sheet, intercompany and other reconciliations
• Prepare periodic management and group reporting and annual accounts for Dutch entities
• Support consolidated annual accounts and VAT returns and other tax or statutory filings
• Liaise with clients, auditors, tax advisers and banks, and support client onboarding and structural changes
• Keep accounting and tax files accurate, maintain audit trails and flag errors or control concerns
• Prioritise work against client needs and deadlines, and support junior colleagues

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or equivalent, or a relevant professional or vocational accounting qualification
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Relevant accounting experience, preferably in professional services, corporate services or an international environment
• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines, with strong attention to detail
• Good client service, communication and interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Experience preparing financial statements, reconciliations and financial reports
• Advantageous: Dutch client entities and international corporate structures, Dutch company law, Dutch GAAP and Dutch tax requirements, Dutch, Exact Online, and experience with auditors and tax advisers
