Project Engineer – Technical Operations (Packaging)

About the role

Join MSD's Technical Operations team in Haarlem and lead device assembly and packaging projects from concept through full‑scale implementation. You will help bring new pharmaceutical products to market while ensuring compliance, robustness, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, development and implementation of assembly and packaging equipment, coordinating with cross‑functional teams to meet timelines and budgets.
• Participate in technology transfer, validation and risk assessments for new packaging processes, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical oversight for equipment installation, process improvements and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including specifications, schedules and cost tracking.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in packaging engineering or medical‑device combination products, preferably in pharmaceutical or medical‑device technical operations.
• Strong knowledge of device assembly and packaging equipment, processes, problem‑solving and risk mitigation.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English and experience working in international, cross‑functional teams.
