Senior Back-end Developer

About the role

Elockers operates a smart‑locker platform used by festivals, venues and events across six countries. This role is not about fixing broken code but about strengthening an already robust, real‑time payments and marketplace platform.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evolve the microservices platform built around Node.js and modern architecture patterns.
• Drive cloud‑native engineering on DigitalOcean App Platform, handling deployment, scaling, monitoring and production reliability.
• Ensure reliability during peak traffic and real‑time payment spikes with zero tolerance for downtime.
• Work on the Adyen‑based payments and marketplace systems and integrate software with physical locker hardware.
• Promote engineering discipline through CI/CD, documentation and AI‑assisted development.

Required profile

• Deep, hands‑on technical seniority with the ability to design, build and debug complex distributed systems.
• Strong, current expertise in Node.js and microservices.
• Clear communicator who fits well in a small, fast‑moving team.
• Ownership mentality, stepping up when business‑critical issues arise.
• Cloud/platform engineering experience, preferably with DigitalOcean App Platform.
• Payments or marketplace experience (Adyen, PSPs, split payments, KYC) and comfort with high‑peak, mission‑critical systems.
• IoT/hardware integration experience is a genuine plus.
• Nice to have: React Native/Expo, multi‑country scaling with GDPR awareness, background in events or ticketing.

What we offer

• Gross annual salary €60,000‑€90,000, depending on experience.
