Senior Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

Finom is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own and evolve its Dynamic Risk Score (DRS) product, which scores the entire client base daily and drives fraud detection, alert suppression, and future credit decisions. You will work end‑to‑end on a small, high‑impact team, deploying, serving, monitoring and continuously improving production models.

Key responsibilities

• Full‑stack ML model development (binary classification and regression) for financial crime detection during transaction processing and client onboarding, from requirements gathering to production deployment.
• Own and evolve the Dynamic Risk Score across all markets, providing daily scoring that feeds decision‑making throughout the client lifecycle.
• Manage a portfolio of transaction rules with ML‑driven detection, optimizing alert volume and performance.
• Set up continuous monitoring of model and rule performance, and implement a champion‑challenger framework to keep the best model live.
• Participate in infrastructure development for model operationalisation and inter‑service interactions, enabling serving of models of varying complexity.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Full‑stack Data Scientist with production deployment experience (e.g., FastAPI).
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, and experience with cloud data platforms such as Databricks.
• Solid architectural skills to design and improve infrastructure for serving diverse models.
• Hands‑on experience with model monitoring and champion‑challenger/A‑B evaluation in production.
• Exposure to graph modelling or foundation models/embeddings is a plus.
• Analytical, proactive, and comfortable working with little supervision in a start‑up environment.
• Quantitative education (math, engineering, economics, or CS) and full professional proficiency in English.
