Senior Software Engineer, Applied AI

About the role

Flexport is building AI agents that anticipate logistics problems, reroute shipments and keep goods moving across 112 countries. As a Senior Software Engineer in Applied AI you will design, develop and ship end‑to‑end AI‑powered applications that make the platform smarter, faster and more autonomous.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and ship AI agents that handle customs compliance, document processing, exception management and other logistics tasks.
• Collaborate across teams and with operators to translate ambiguous problems into production‑ready solutions.
• Iterate quickly from idea to deployment, treating each release as a learning opportunity.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with extensive hands‑on work with large language models (LLMs).
• Strong product instincts and the ability to identify high‑impact problems without a detailed spec.
• Entrepreneurial drive, excellent communication and a passion for transforming global trade.

Required skills

• TypeScript and Next.js (full‑stack development).
• Experience with LLMs, including agent patterns, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering and tool use.
• SQL databases such as Postgres and data warehouses like Snowflake.
• Familiarity with AI APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google AI).
