Software Engineer - Backend

About the role

Databricks is building the world’s best data and AI infrastructure platform. As a Backend Software Engineer you will join a team that designs and operates large‑scale services that power the Databricks platform. You will work on distributed systems, cloud storage integrations, and developer tooling to enable customers to run massive data workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high‑performance services for storing and accessing massive datasets on cloud backends such as AWS S3 and Azure Blob Store.
• Build reliable, scalable infrastructure components using technologies like Scala, Kubernetes, and Spark to support pricing and usage monitoring for millions of cluster‑hours per day.
• Develop and improve developer experience tools and client libraries for the Databricks platform.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2+ years of production‑level experience with Java, Scala, C++ or a similar language.
• Experience building large‑scale distributed systems and working on SaaS platforms or Service‑Oriented Architectures.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and cloud storage concepts.
