Software Engineer III – .NET/Azure Tax Platform

About the role

Join Nextens, the leading tax and compliance platform in the Netherlands, as a Software Engineer III. You will work on a critical, high‑volume tax filing system used daily by thousands of professionals, delivering new functionality and ensuring the platform remains reliable, scalable, and future‑proof.

Key responsibilities

• Build and enhance core modules for tax filing and compliance, serving thousands of users each year.
• Apply modern engineering practices, including AI‑assisted development tools, to boost productivity and code quality.
• Develop back‑end and front‑end components (APIs, interfaces, integrations) that handle large data volumes and complex tax logic.
• Contribute to new features such as external system integrations and tools for tax advisory workflows.
• Collaborate with domain experts and product owners to translate regulations and customer needs into reliable software.
• Maintain high quality and maintainability through testing, refactoring, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 2‑5 years of hands‑on software development experience, preferably with .NET Core and Azure.
• Interest in responsibly using AI‑assisted development tools.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, especially with complex logic or data.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work closely with engineers and tax domain experts.
• Commitment to clean, maintainable code and a habit of writing automated tests.
• Fluency in English; ability to read Dutch requirement texts (spoken Dutch is a plus).
