Staff Software Engineer – Experimentation & Decisioning Platform

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer within the Payments Performance pillar, you will provide strategic technical leadership for the Experimentation and Decisioning platform. You will guide architectural priorities, unblock complex challenges, and ensure solutions are built for impact and scale across global payments.

Key responsibilities

• Drive long‑term technical direction and strategy for the Experimentation and Optimisation platform.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Data Science, Platform and ML Engineering teams to shape what we build.
• Coach and mentor engineering teams, providing technical leadership on complex distributed systems in Go.
• Identify opportunities to raise engineering standards and foster continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven technical leadership with ability to set direction and influence across multiple teams.
• Extensive hands‑on experience building, operating and scaling cloud‑based distributed systems, primarily on AWS.
• Strong background implementing and scaling experimentation or feature‑flagging infrastructures at global scale.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to multidisciplinary audiences.

Required skills

• Go (Golang) – concurrent, memory‑efficient, low‑latency backend development.
• AWS cloud services and distributed system architecture.
• Design and operation of experimentation platforms or feature‑flagging systems.
• Experience with low‑latency, high‑throughput backend services.
