Trainee Vintage Product Assessor – Fine Jewellery

About the role

As a Jewellery & Precious Metals Assessor you will evaluate, sort and prepare fine jewellery and precious metals for auction and sale. The role is ideal for candidates with retail jewellery or bench jeweller experience who want to deepen their knowledge of the luxury vintage market.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and catalogue high‑value jewellery, identifying fine, antique and collectible pieces.
• Sort and break down jewellery into solid gold scrap, carefully removing gemstones and non‑gold components.
• Identify metal purity and karat levels using visual inspection and XRF testing (training provided).
• Prepare and weigh solid gold for secure storage, following strict security protocols.

Required profile

• Previous experience in retail jewellery settings or bench jewelling.
• Familiarity with vintage, antique and fine jewellery hallmarks and metal purity.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle valuable items with precision.
• Comfortable working with figures, weights and Excel‑based tracking systems.
