Chair of Advisory Committee (Roster) – Legal Expert

About the role

ICMP is establishing a roster of qualified legal experts to serve as Chair of its Advisory Committee, which oversees the internal appeals process for staff complaints. The Chair will lead the Committee in conducting independent, fair reviews of appeals and providing recommendations to the Director‑General.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the work of the Advisory Committee, ensuring clear understanding of issues in each case.
• Determine procedural steps, assess legal and procedural issues, and guide the Committee in formulating findings and recommendations.
• Ensure proceedings protect the rights of all parties and comply with ICMP’s Staff Regulations, Rules and administrative directives.
• Prepare and present the Committee’s report to the Director‑General, outlining the basis for recommendations.

Required profile

• Minimum seven years of progressively responsible legal experience, including advisory work in administrative and employment law.
• Knowledge of international administrative jurisprudence and experience before international tribunals or dispute‑resolution bodies.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English; additional languages such as Arabic or French are an asset.
• Proven ability to advise senior leadership and manage sensitive legal matters with discretion.

Required skills

• Legal analysis and interpretation of staff regulations, rules and administrative instructions.
• Ability to conduct impartial hearings and draft clear, reasoned recommendations.
