Core Software Engineer (C++) – Remote

About the role

We are looking for exceptional C++ engineers to join our remote‑first global team, working on the core ClickHouse open‑source database and ClickHouse Cloud offerings.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to, analyze, and optimize performance of the core ClickHouse database, including query optimization, distributed query optimization, and low‑level SIMD optimizations.
• Maintain and extend performance tests using real‑world or synthetic datasets to ensure performance does not degrade.
• Support the Support Engineering team by debugging advanced performance issues, participating in on‑call rotation and community support channels.
• Collaborate with other teams to assess impact of new features on performance and reliability.
• Engage with the open‑source community: resolve issues, review and finish PRs, answer questions on mailing lists, chats, and external channels.

Required profile

• Solid professional software development experience in C++ on Unix systems.
• Strong knowledge of database internals and design.
• Experience in performance engineering (e.g., databases, high‑frequency trading, simulation, real‑time data processing).
• Excellent communication and ability to work across engineering teams and with the open‑source community.
• Strong problem‑solving and production debugging skills.
• Passion for efficiency, availability, scalability and data governance.
