Customs Declarant – Next Generation

About the role

The Customs Declarant – Next Generation will be responsible for accurate, timely and compliant handling of customs declarations using automated systems, data analysis and risk assessment. The role combines operational execution with advisory support for clients, colleagues and authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, check, and submit import, export and transit customs declarations.
• Ensure compliance with national and EU customs legislation and manage permits and special procedures.
• Identify compliance risks, conduct internal audits and support AEO certifications.
• Work with advanced declaration software and AI‑supported systems to monitor exceptions, analyse data and drive process optimisation.
• Advise clients on customs classification, origin, value and support commercial teams on complex matters.

Required profile

• Knowledge of the Union Customs Code, HS/TARIC classification, preferential origin and customs value.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills; customer‑focused and decisive.
• MBO+/HBO level education with vocational training as a Declarant and at least 3 years of customs experience.

Required skills

• Experience with customs declaration software and automated declaration processes.
• Familiarity with AI‑supported systems, data analysis and process automation.
