Data Steward

About the role

We are seeking a Data Steward to support data management across translational cancer research studies at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. The role focuses on ensuring research data is well‑structured, reliable and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) to accelerate discovery and clinical implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist researchers in collecting, checking, curating and structuring diverse omics and clinical data sets.
• Implement and automate data‑flow pipelines for multiple studies.
• Apply FAIR principles and contribute to standardisation of data formats and metadata.
• Collaborate with the Translational Gastrointestinal Oncology group and national platforms such as Health‑RI and cBioPortal.
• Document data management procedures and support data‑integration initiatives.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a relevant scientific or data‑focused discipline.
• Proactive attitude with ability to work independently in a multi‑disciplinary, multi‑centre environment.
• Strong commitment to translational cancer research and its clinical application.

Required skills

• Experience with FAIR data management and data curation.
• Familiarity with omics data types (DNA, RNA, proteomics) and related metadata standards.
