Director, Area Marketing – Netherlands

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Director, Area Marketing for the Netherlands to lead the development and execution of local marketing strategies. The role will drive advertising, promotions, sponsorships and market research initiatives that align with business priorities and support Mastercard’s purpose of powering economies worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement integrated marketing plans covering advertising, promotions, sponsorships and market research to meet company objectives.
• Lead cross‑functional projects within the country, balancing stakeholder needs and managing multiple work streams.
• Develop metrics and specifications to track program performance, analyse results and provide data‑driven recommendations.
• Translate high‑level direction into detailed briefs for internal marketing teams or external agencies for the production of print, digital, direct‑mail and call‑center materials.
• Oversee portions of the local marketing budget, ensuring campaigns stay within allocated spend.
• Collaborate closely with internal and external communications as part of the overall marketing strategy.
• Supervise a team of two contributors, manage goal setting, performance appraisals and talent development.

Required profile

• Proven success in building integrated marketing and communications plans that leverage multiple channels.
• Experience working with global marketing counterparts and representing local market insights.
• Extensive background in at least one marketing discipline, with additional experience in B2B or consumer marketing.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross‑functional projects and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders at the local level.
• Experience supervising, coaching and motivating marketing teams.
