HR Manager

About the role

As HR Manager you are responsible for HR at operational, tactical and strategic levels. You act as a true business partner for the Managing Director and the Management Team, shaping and delivering the organisation’s goals through effective people management. You translate organisational strategy into clear HR policies and ensure their execution across the yard.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and drive HR strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Define and implement HR policies and ensure professional, service‑oriented HR organisation.
• Lead, coach and develop the HR team (HR Advisor and Front Desk Officer).
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation and labour conditions.
• Manage workforce planning, staffing levels and HR budgets.
• Maintain relationships with external partners such as agencies and occupational health services.
• Provide HR analytics and governance, delivering data on absence, turnover and performance.
• Act as a key link between DSV and central Damen HR and IT.

Required profile

• HBO/HBO+ level education, preferably in HR, Personnel & Labour or similar.
• 7.5–10+ years of relevant HR experience, including MT‑level leadership.
• Experience in a dynamic, project‑based or technical environment such as shiprepair.
• Proven experience with HR systems (e.g., Workday) and job‑grading methodologies (e.g., ISF/HAY).
• Strong communication, influencing and analytical skills.
• Coaching leadership style with ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
