Naval Architect / Marine Engineer – Aquaculture & Fishing

About the role

Join Damen Aquaculture & Fishing as a Naval Architect / Marine Engineer, shaping sustainable vessels for the aquaculture and fishing sectors. You will translate customer needs into practical ship designs and collaborate closely with sales and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for new vessel concepts.
• Prepare functional descriptions, technical specifications, and construction plans.
• Perform calculations for weight, stability, structural strength, power requirements and vessel performance.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments and support approval processes with clients and classification societies.
• Coordinate design activities with internal teams, external partners and subcontractors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Shipbuilding Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in ship design, naval architecture or marine engineering.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English; additional languages a plus.
• Interest in modern maritime technologies such as electrification and emissions reduction.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Rhino and NUPAS‑Cadmatic.
• Experience with Maxsurf and/or Siemens NX (including FEM applications).
