PhD in Chaotic Sampling for Networked Control Systems
University Positions · République démocratique du Congo
Job description
About the role
This PhD project focuses on the mathematical theory and computational methods for chaotic sampling in networked control systems. It is part of a new lab at the Delft Center for Systems and Control and is supervised by Gabriel de Albuquerque Gleizer. The work is theory‑centric with optional experimental validation using a wireless lab‑scale control system.
Key responsibilities
- Develop mathematical models and proofs for chaotic event‑based sampling mechanisms.
- Design controller and sampler strategies that balance stability, communication rate, and timing unpredictability (entropy).
- Analyse robustness of the proposed mechanisms to disturbances and external observations.
- Create computational algorithms, open‑source software, and validate them through simulations.
- Optionally contribute to an experimental demonstration in a wireless lab environment.
- Participate in teaching activities (up to 20% of the appointment), such as supervising lab sessions or mentoring students.
Required profile
- MSc degree in systems & control, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, theoretical computer science, or a closely related field.
- Strong enthusiasm for abstract mathematics and theoretical research.
- Motivation to work on cutting‑edge problems in control theory and nonlinear dynamics.
Required skills
- Control theory
- Nonlinear dynamics
- Optimization techniques
- Theoretical computer science
- Event‑based control concepts
- Networked control systems
What we offer
- Opportunity to publish high‑impact research and develop open‑source tools.
- Access to a multidisciplinary lab environment and potential experimental work.
- Teaching experience that supports academic and professional development.
- Strong supervision and collaboration within an international research community.
