Plan Approval Surveyor (Machinery)

About the role

Within the Dutch Plan Approval department of Bureau Veritas, a team of 40 professionals evaluates ship and offshore installation designs against class rules and statutory regulations. The role focuses on assessing design drawings for a wide range of vessels, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess design drawings of ships, concentrating on piping systems, propulsion installations, MARPOL, SOLAS, Ballast Water Management and new fuel technologies.
• Provide technical advice to shipyards, engineering firms and owners on maritime regulations for new constructions or renovations.
• Act as the primary contact for international Bureau Veritas colleagues and support customers throughout the approval process.

Required profile

• Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Maritime Engineering or a related field.
• Several years of experience in the maritime sector, preferably with ship design or onboard experience.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English, able to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work both independently and in a team.

Required skills
