Postdoc in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for Land Data Assimilation

About the role

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to study how large offshore wind farms influence precipitation patterns. The project combines high‑resolution numerical modelling with observational data to uncover the physical mechanisms linking wind‑farm‑induced changes in the marine atmospheric boundary layer to rainfall.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute numerical experiments with and without wind‑farm effects.
• Analyse model outputs and compare them to available observations.
• Identify meteorological conditions that amplify wind‑farm impacts on precipitation.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of scientists to interpret results.
• Prepare scientific manuscripts and present findings at conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in Earth sciences, physics, applied mathematics, engineering, computer science or a related field.
• Strong background in fluid mechanics and numerical modelling.
• Experience handling large environmental data sets.
• Demonstrated interest in atmospheric physics and offshore wind.
• Excellent written and spoken English and ability to work independently.
