Postdoc Position - Conceptualizing Nature Driven Facades

About the role

The Delft Centre of Systems and Control (DCSC) at TU Delft seeks a postdoctoral researcher to advance the theory and practice of autonomous digital twins for transportation systems. You will work on formal control‑theoretic methods that enable digital twins to design, configure, and verify themselves.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a framework for autonomous design of formal mathematical contracts based on system descriptions and functional requirements.
• Design algorithms that automatically select controller parametrisations, ensuring stability and performance.
• Theorise and verify complex control policies such as Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Reinforcement Learning (RL).
• Analyse the stability impact of interconnecting digital twins of heterogeneous systems.
• Contribute to the state‑of‑the‑art digital‑twin platform for transportation (based on SUMO).

Required profile

• MSc degree in systems and control, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, computer science or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of control theory, machine learning or digital‑twin technologies (waived for strong expertise in theoretical CS, optimisation or mobility systems).
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to work across control theory, computer science and transportation engineering.
• Proficient programming skills, especially in Python.
