Principal Engineer - Privacy

About the role

Databricks is building the world’s best data and AI infrastructure platform, enabling customers to tackle high‑impact challenges. The Trust & Safety organization seeks a senior leader to shape the vision and strategy for privacy and data security across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and close critical security gaps in Databricks infrastructure and services to make the platform safer for customers.
• Attract and hire top talent from across the industry to strengthen the security engineering team.
• Represent the security engineering discipline throughout the organization, providing a strong voice for data‑driven security decisions.
• Present Databricks at academic and industry conferences and events.

Required profile

• 9+ years of experience in Data Security or related areas, with deep expertise in multiple security domains.
• 15+ years building large‑scale distributed systems with high availability.
• Proven leadership ability to influence across functional and organizational boundaries.
• Excellent communication skills to evangelize data security to senior leaders.
• Bias toward action and a passion for delivering high‑quality solutions.
• MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
