PRN Advanced Practice Provider – Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

About the role

This PRN Advanced Practice Provider position supports the Behavioral Health Services at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The role is focused on delivering acute‑care nursing expertise to patients admitted to behavioral health inpatient units.

Key responsibilities

• Perform History & Physical examinations on newly admitted patients and manage concurrent medical illnesses.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and coordinate care with the broader clinical team.
• Engage in agency‑wide training programs, in‑services, and ongoing professional development.
• Provide accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
• Rotate through various units within Washington Hospital Center as needed.

Required profile

• Acute Care experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Master’s, postgraduate, or doctoral degree from a CCNE or ACEN‑accredited Advanced Practice Provider program.
• Eligibility for Acute or Acute Adult Nurse Practitioner certification through ANCC.
• Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities.
• Effective problem‑solving skills and flexibility in a fast‑paced environment.
