Research Assistant in Oncogenomics Lab

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join the Jacqueline Jacobs lab at the Division of Oncogenomics, Amsterdam. The role supports a KFW‑funded project investigating mechanisms and therapeutic potential of genomic instability in cancer.

Key responsibilities

• Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments, including mammalian cell culture, genome editing, microscopy, flow cytometry and molecular analyses.
• Support genome‑wide functional genetic screening and subsequent validation studies.
• Collect, document and organise experimental data, and contribute to troubleshooting and optimisation of protocols.
• Maintain laboratory stocks, equipment and shared resources.
• Collaborate closely with a PhD student and other lab members to ensure efficient project execution.
• Participate in lab meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic and motivated with a strong interest in cancer genomics.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Attention to detail and good organisational skills.

Required skills

• Mammalian cell culture.
• Genome editing techniques (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9).
• Microscopy.
• Flow cytometry.
• Molecular biology analyses (PCR, Western blot, etc.).
• Experience with functional genetic screening.
