RF Engineer - Quantum Processor Design, Layout and Simulation

About the role

The Quantum Processor Team at QuantWare is looking for an RF Engineer to drive the design, layout, and simulation of next‑generation quantum chips. You will work on creating design tools, managing chip development loops, and supporting foundry customers to ensure successful tape‑out of large‑scale QPUs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop quantum chip design tools, including PDKs, DRCs, tuners, and tape‑out generation utilities.
• Own end‑to‑end quantum chip projects, coordinating with fabrication and measurement teams.
• Support foundry customers in using QuantWare’s PDK and ensure designs meet technical standards.
• Identify workflow bottlenecks and propose improvements to enhance design‑to‑tapeout efficiency.

Required profile

• MSc or higher in circuit design, microwave or RF engineering.
• 4+ years of experience delivering complex technical projects with strong autonomy.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities in cross‑disciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with RF simulation tools such as ANSYS HFSS or Sonnet.
• Proficient Python programming for collaborative development.
• Familiarity with quantum design/layout tools like Qiskit Metal, KLayout, or GDSFactory.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, nanofabrication processes, and cryogenic measurement techniques.
