Senior AWS DevOps Engineer – Kubernetes & Platform SRE

About the role

We are seeking a senior AWS DevOps Engineer to join a globally leading tech client on a long‑term contract. The role is based in Amsterdam with a hybrid work model, requiring at least two days onsite per week in Ghent (Zwijnaarde). You will own the design, operation, and reliability of Kubernetes‑based platforms and AWS cloud infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Kubernetes cluster lifecycle, including upgrades, patching, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
• Provision and support Rancher RKE2 environments.
• Administer core AWS services such as IAM, VPC, EC2, EKS, Route 53, load balancers and CloudWatch.
• Perform Linux system administration, networking, security hardening and scripting automation.
• Handle Kubernetes networking, DNS, TLS certificates, ingress, routing and firewalls.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response and root‑cause analysis.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• Create architecture documentation, SOPs, onboarding guides and runbooks.
• Use Infrastructure as Code tools, primarily Terraform.
• Support GitOps delivery with Argo CD, Flux, Fleet, Helm and Kustomize.
• Apply security compliance tooling including image scanning, OPA Gatekeeper, Kyverno and secrets management.
• Adopt SRE best practices – SLIs, SLOs, error budgets and post‑incident reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior Kubernetes and AWS DevOps engineer or platform SRE consultant.
• Hands‑on expertise with Rancher RKE2, Kubernetes production operations and AWS cloud services.
• Strong Linux administration and infrastructure automation background.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, tune performance and implement observability in cloud‑native environments.
