Senior Database Administrator – Microsoft SQL Server

About the role

You will join the Operations & Delivery Team at BIQH as the first DBA, working closely with developers and architects to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability of the Microsoft SQL Server environment supporting the Market Data Platform.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain and optimize the Microsoft SQL Server environment, including performance tuning, indexing, maintenance plans and security.
• Plan and execute the upgrade of the on‑premises high‑availability clustered SQL Server to a newer version, ensuring minimal downtime and stability.
• Collaborate with operations and development teams to improve SQL statements, import processes and overall database architecture.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments with a strong understanding of architecture and performance tuning.
• Proven ability to analyze and optimise complex SQL queries and execution plans.
• Experience improving ETL/import processes and planning/executing SQL Server upgrades (a plus).
• Knowledge of indexing strategies, statistics, backup & recovery, and high‑availability concepts.
• Proactive analytical mindset with excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field is a plus.
