Senior Platform Engineer - Observability

About the role

Adyen is seeking an experienced Observability Infrastructure Engineer to join its Platform Engineering organization. You will help build and operate the observability pillars that collect, process, and store logs, metrics, and traces for hundreds of product teams. The role focuses on large‑scale automation, self‑service, and reliability across hybrid on‑premise and Kubernetes environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the next‑generation architecture for logging and metrics systems, supporting new global regions and regulatory compliance.
• Own the hybrid infrastructure lifecycle for over 1,500 bare‑metal and Kubernetes servers.
• Write Go or Python code to automate operational tasks, build self‑healing systems, and improve CI pipelines for safe cluster changes.
• Optimize performance of distributed tracing and logging pipelines, tuning Elasticsearch, Prometheus, and VictoriaMetrics clusters.
• Participate in on‑call rotations while engineering solutions that prevent alerts, upgrade the stack, and enforce automated guardrails and quota management.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in observability or related platform/infrastructure domains.
• Hands‑on expertise with core telemetry stores at scale (Elasticsearch/Opensearch/VictoriaLogs/Clickhouse, Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics, Grafana Tempo).
• Deep Linux knowledge, capable of debugging kernel‑level networking, filesystem, and performance issues.
• Production Kubernetes experience, including daily use of kubectl and Kubernetes primitives (Namespaces, Pods, Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets).
• Software‑engineering mindset with proficiency in Go or Python, building tools and automation as code.
