Senior Storage Engineer

About the role

This position is part of Adyen’s Platform Engineering team in Amsterdam. As a Senior Storage Engineer you will design, implement, manage and maintain data storage systems, covering the full lifecycle from strategic design to day‑to‑day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy storage infrastructure such as SAN and object storage to meet organisational needs.
• Monitor and maintain storage systems to ensure optimal performance, availability and reliability.
• Perform capacity planning and forecasting for future storage requirements.
• Develop and implement backup, replication and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve storage‑related issues.
• Maintain documentation of configurations, procedures and standards.
• Collaborate with other Platform Engineering teams on upgrades, migrations and integrations.
• Automate storage provisioning and management using scripting or IaC tools.

Required profile

• 5+ years of Linux systems administration experience with a focus on storage (e.g., Ceph).
• Hands‑on experience with enterprise storage platforms such as PureStorage, NetApp, EMC, Dell, IBM or Hitachi.
• Strong knowledge of RAID, LVM, NFS, iSCSI, multipathing and file systems (ext4, XFS, ZFS).
• Proficiency in shell scripting and familiarity with Python, Puppet or Ansible.
• Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware or KVM.
• Knowledge of cloud storage services such as AWS S3 and EBS.
• Experience using monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Zabbix).
