Staff EHS Engineer – Biosafety Officer

About the role

The Staff EHS Engineer – Biosafety Officer will co‑develop and implement comprehensive biosafety policies and programs, ensuring safe handling of biological materials while leading EHS initiatives across Johnson & Johnson.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑develop, implement and maintain the biosafety management program, conduct risk assessments and create biosafety protocols.
• Deliver training programs on biosafety practices and supervise compliance with local regulations and J&J guidelines.
• Collaborate with the EHS team to develop policies for a safe working environment and support ISO 14001 compliance.
• Participate in hazard assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigations, providing corrective action recommendations.
• Serve as the primary contact for biosafety and EHS inquiries, mentor standards owners and SMEs, and foster a culture of safety.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Occupational Health or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in biosafety, EHS or bioscience lab/production environments with progressive responsibility.
• Certified Biosafety Officer registered at BGGO.
• Proficiency in spoken and written Dutch and English.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Biosafety protocol development and risk assessment.
• ISO 14001 knowledge and implementation.
• Regulatory compliance (local and J&J standards).
• Training design and delivery for biosafety and EHS topics.
