Primary Teacher – Special Educational Needs (Medical & Mental Health)

About the role

The School of Special Educational Needs: Medical and Mental Health (SSEN:MMH) is building a pool of primary teachers for permanent, fixed‑term, full‑time and part‑time positions that may start between 2026 and Term 4 2027. You will join a dynamic, co‑teaching environment delivering high‑quality education to students whose physical or mental health challenges affect their access to mainstream programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated primary curriculum across multi‑age classrooms.
• Collaborate with specialist staff, health professionals and other teachers to meet individual student needs.
• Utilise multimodal learning approaches and adaptive pedagogies to engage learners.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to individualized education plans.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development and school-wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified primary teacher with a strong understanding of the Australian curriculum.
• Experience or interest in teaching students with medical or mental health needs.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Flexibility to work across multiple campuses in the Perth metropolitan area.
• Commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive education.

Required skills

• Proficiency in designing differentiated lesson plans.
• Ability to implement multimodal instructional strategies.
• Familiarity with special‑education documentation and reporting.
