Financial Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to strengthen our Finance team in Amsterdam and support the growth of Fairphone, including expanding US operations. The role involves hands‑on accounting, monthly and quarterly closing, and ownership of recurring finance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and execute recurring monthly and quarterly closing activities, including accruals, pre‑payments and journal entries.
• Perform balance‑sheet, bank and intercompany reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain fixed‑asset records, inventory reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Provide data for VAT, tax, audit PBC files and support audit requests.
• Handle day‑to‑day ERP issues, maintain finance master data and clean recurring datasets.
• Document existing finance processes and keep process documentation up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in financial accounting, accounting operations or audit.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and experience with monthly/quarterly close.
• Attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to resolve discrepancies.
• Proactive, structured and able to work independently in a fast‑moving environment.
• Fluent English communication skills and interest in sustainability.
