Head Housekeeper

About the role

The Hoxton Amsterdam, a 111-room boutique hotel on the Herengracht canal, is looking for a Head Housekeeper reporting to the General Manager. You will manage the housekeeping department and all its staff, keeping rooms, public areas and back-of-house areas clean and presenting to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Housekeeping team so every guest enjoys a spotless stay, from perfectly made rooms to public and back-of-house areas.
• Train the team on all Housekeeping SOPs and coach, motivate and develop them.
• Set clear objectives and carry out regular inspections and spot-checks of rooms and public areas.
• Work closely with Front Office and Maintenance and improve systems, processes and efficiencies.
• Own health and safety procedures, including crisis and fire team responsibilities and emergency protocols.
• Watch budgets, expenses and labour costs, and oversee stock levels and ordering while minimising waste.
• Maintain good relationships with suppliers and contractors and contribute to department projects.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 2 years.
• Passion for hospitality and a focus on giving guests a memorable experience.
• An eagle-eye for detail and a natural people person who motivates others.
• Willingness to try new things and work in a supportive, fun team.

Required skills

• Experience with Micros Fidelio Opera or a similar front desk operating system.
