Head of Finance & Control

About the role

The Head of Finance & Control joins SPARK’s Management Team, reporting to the CEO, to lead finance and control strategy, governance and operational financial management across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi‑annual financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Oversee consolidated budgeting, financial reporting, quarterly reporting to the Supervisory Board and annual audits.
• Maintain strong financial governance, internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Strengthen and improve financial policies, manuals, control frameworks and financial systems (including Exact Online).
• Provide financial guidance for new business development, including cost allocation and risk assessment.
• Lead and develop finance, accounting and control teams across HQ and regional offices.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of relevant experience, including a finance leadership role.
• Experience in international development/NGO sector with EU and Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs donors.
• Proven people‑manager capable of leading finance teams.
• Fluent in English; French or Arabic a plus.

Required skills

• Exact Online financial system.
• Budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Financial reporting and audit coordination.
• Knowledge of EU and Dutch donor financial reporting requirements.
