Laboratory Operations & Safety Officer

About the role

The Laboratory Operations & Safety Officer will support day‑to‑day laboratory activities and help build operational foundations for QuantWare’s expanding R&D facilities, including a new semiconductor cleanroom. Working closely with Health & Safety, R&D, Facilities and Operations teams, you will create and improve processes to keep the labs safe, compliant and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate laboratory and cleanroom operations: procurement, inventory, asset tracking, storage, logistics, equipment calibration, maintenance and vendor management.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve operational procedures, work instructions and documentation for labs and cleanrooms.
• Support the Health & Safety Officer in EHS management: risk inventory & evaluation, hazard identification, inspections, risk assessments and corrective actions.
• Manage chemical safety programmes: inventories, SDS administration, compatibility assessments, permit‑to‑work support, waste management and environmental compliance.
• Assist with internal and external audits, regulatory inspections and maintain EHS documentation and safety performance indicators.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in cleanroom facilities operations, EHS, QHSE or laboratory operations within a technical environment.
• Proven experience developing laboratory/cleanroom procedures and conducting risk assessments and inspections.
• Strong organisational, project coordination and stakeholder management skills in a fast‑paced scale‑up.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
